Portland Covenant Church, formerly Irvington Covenant Church, centrally located in Portland’s King neighborhood, is seeking a part-time Director of Youth Ministries.

The Director of Youth Ministries is a paid part-time (20 hours per week) bi-vocational position.




1.Youth Ministries

-Oversee the vision and direction of Youth Ministries including budgeting, curriculum, teaching materials, developing servanthood and leadership programs, planning and organizing church activities, and establishing youth groups.
-Provide spiritual care to youth, families, and volunteers.

-Foster seamless communication with families.

-Curate monthly email to families/caregivers of participating youth.



-Oversee Youth Ministry volunteers.

Position Summary

This creative and loving leader oversees and coordinates the Youth Ministries program for our middle school/junior high and high school youth and their families.  In partnership with the Pastor and the Christian Education Committee, the Coordinator will organize a sustainable youth ministry at Yorba Linda Presbyterian Church.  This includes engaging families in the ministries of the congregation, as well as moving out into the world to learn and serve.



1.    Communicate the importance of experiencing Youth Ministry within the church and wider community and challenge youth, their families, and the whole congregation church to support their inclusion in ministry.

2.    Recognize and support the importance of faith, differences, conversation and questions in embracing the God made known through Jesus Christ.

3.    Plan and maintain a consistent youth program including weekly gatherings on Sunday morning as well as additional events that support the vision of ministry with youth and their families.

4.    Provide age-appropriate education regarding the rich tradition and dynamic potential of Christianity in the Reformed tradition.

5.    Envision, develop, and lead new ways of doing ministry by youth within the church and wider community.

6.    Observe all best practices in the Yorba Linda Protection Policy to ensure a secure environment for youth and those who serve with them.

7.    Develop a team of volunteers, including parents, church members, service organization members, and appropriate professionals to work with youth in meetings and on events.

8.    Coordinate youth and their families’ needs and requests with support from the Pastor and Christian Education Committee as needed.

9.    Work with the church staff and CE Committee to publicize all youth ministries and programs throughout the church year.

Children’s Director

We are looking for someone passionate about leading volunteers to create an amazing Children’s ministry!

Areas of Responsibilities:
Reach people to become followers of Christ

Oversight of East Campus Ministry including- systems implementation, commitment to the vision and mission of the Kids ministry, site management, volunteer management, and facility flip.

Develop leaders to become disciple makers as specified in Matthew 28:16-20.

Run a Christ centered children’s ministry Colossians 3:17.

Systems and specific duties:

Create structures within the Children’s ministry so that a team member can flourish and take ownership of the program according to Romans 12:3-8.

Develop and oversee the recruiting, training, and scheduling of volunteers to staff each of the worship service times. Utilize Orange resources for training.

Train your leaders to preach the gospel according to 2 Timothy 4:2.

Ongoing evaluation and implementation of age-appropriate curriculums and activities for both Pre-k and Elementary ministries.

Participate and collaborate with Kids staff on events or programs keeping in line with the church and ministry mission and vision, including Child Dedication, Baptism classes, Trunk Or Treat and other events.

Carefully manage East Campus Pre-k & Elementary budget, oversee and maintain Pre-k & Elementary facility, purchase/replace outdated, worn out items, report areas that need repair, and recommend improvements as needed.

The Student Ministries Position:

The role we’re seeking to hire is a Student Ministries Pastor or Director who would be responsible for the leadership and spiritual development of the middle school and high school students connected with Northlake Community Church. Currently our student ministry serves about 50 students during our Sunday services and 30 throughout the week in small groups. Northlake’s student ministry has an excellent and long standing reputation in the Bellingham community.
