About Hope Community Church
Hope Community Church is affiliated with the Evangelical Free Church of America. We are committed to Jesus Christ, the gospel and one another. The Church gathers for worship on Sunday mornings in a beautiful facility with two primary goals: Christ-centered worship and Bible-centered teaching. Our Church averages 275 in attendance with about 200 members. As an established Church, we are able to enjoy the stability of our community yet continually strive to further the kingdom.
We are a Church amid some minor staff transitions. Our youth pastor became an associate pastor last fall and has taken on responsibilities beyond the realm of youth ministry. At the same time, our worship leader left to become an associate pastor at another Church in Washington. We desire to call an Associate Pastor of Youth and Worship to step into these opportunities and share the vision of the Church and help lead us into greater health.

What we want in an Associate Pastor of Youth and Worship
We are looking for a full-time associate pastor who will work closely alongside our current associate pastor in leading our youth and worship ministries. Both ministries are relatively healthy right now, but as we adapt amid the ongoing age of Covid, strong Godly leadership is needed. Our youth ministry currently oversees 40+ students with an average attendance of about 30 students between both high school and middle school. We currently rely on volunteers to lead worship Sunday morning and seek to have someone who can more succinctly lead this ministry. Please expect to devote 75% of your energy to youth and 25% to the worship ministry.

About Berkley Community Church
Located in a suburb of Detroit, Berkley Community Church is passionate about reaching families with the Gospel through Sunday and mid-week ministry. BCC is a growing church of 250 regular attenders with a roster of approximately 40 students (middle school / high school) and 75 kids (birth-5th grade). Additional number of kids in Wednesday Awana (unchurched and from other churches).
Overview:The NextGen Pastor will love, pray, and create a ministry experience that engages kids and students and encourages them to develop a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. This pastor would be the primary leader and innovator of the youth ministry, as well as, leading and encouraging a team of volunteer children’s ministry leaders to bring a solidified gospel vision from birth to graduation. They would have a pastor’s heart, qualifications, and family desire to build relationships and invest into this amazing church and community.
Youth Ministry (approx. 65% of time/energy)
~Lead the coordination and facilitation of engaging weekly middle school and high school gathering that are biblically accurate and culturally relevant. Be primary teacher to students.
~Plan and lead retreats, mission trips, and other special events that provide spiritual growth opportunities for both the unchurched and churched students in our community.
~Recruit, train, and lead a team of adult leaders and student leaders.
~Love the students! Pastor the students and engage in their lives (hang outs, sports games, build relationship outside of youth group, etc.)
~Help to integrate the student ministry into the overall body of the church.
~Be intentional about being an outreach focused ministry. (i.e. evangelistic events, where possible establish a presence schools in order to support current BCC students and reach others.)
~Network with other student ministry pastors as a means of support and community building.
Family Ministry (approx. 25% of time/energy)
~Provide vision and leadership in Children’s Ministries.
~Lead and assist ministry leaders (Promiseland, Promiseland Jr., Toddler, Nursery, Awana) regarding curriculum, leader recruitment and development, and encouragement (lead the leaders).
~Serve in Wednesday evening Awana ministry.
~Coordinate family ministry events occasionally throughout year to enrich and be opportunities to bring in new families.
Other Pastoral Responsibilities: (approx. 10% of time/energy)
~Hold regular office hours with availability to meet with pastor, elders, youth and/or parents on individual basis.
~Attend, participate in and support appropriate and corporate worship services and ministry events as a Pastor of the church.
~Build relationships in church and provide pastoral care duties if needed (weddings, funerals, visitation, and counseling).
~Occasional Sunday preaching
Meet biblical qualifications of a church leader.
Agree with doctrine of our church statement of faith.
Able to teach the Word of God effectively.
Preferred (but not required) experience in church or para-church organization.
Have maturing personal spiritual growth with a family and a social life that honestly reflects your spiritual life.
Has a passion to pastor students and families and see them transformed by the Gospel.
Has skills and disciplines capable of leading top-notch family ministry.

Executive Director – Youth for Christ East Michigan
The Executive Director is:
· the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation and is responsible to the Board of Directors for the chapter’s day to day operations within the Board’s directives.
· accountable to the National Service Center (NSC) in matters of credentialing and chartering and to the local board for the operations of the Youth for Christ (YFC) Chapter and fulfillment of its mission.
This Executive Leadership position exists to lead and manage the YFC ministry in East Michigan. This includes casting vision, implementing strategy, managing a healthy financial position, supervising staff and volunteer leaders, establishing fruitful and sustainable ministry while maintaining YFC policies for compliance and standards of safety.
All Leaders in YFC are trained and developed in a specific leadership target. It is attached to this job description as a reference to the essential job functions listed below.
The Executive Director is responsible to see that the four “Roles of Leadership” as outlined in the Executive Leadership Target are executed with excellence.
The four Roles of Leadership are: Visionary Strategist, Team Developer, Ministry Developer and Resource Steward. It is unlikely that any one person including the Executive Director would be gifted to lead all four “Roles of Leadership” therefore:
Some “Roles of Leadership” will always be the direct responsibility of the Executive Director.
Other “Roles of Leadership” may be shared to one degree or another by several of the chapter’s senior staff and/or board members.
And some additional “Roles of Leadership” may be delegated to specific senior staff and/or board members based on gift mix, skills and talents.
In smaller chapters such as ours, the Executive Director will be responsible for all areas with some delegation to gifted/talented board members or volunteers.

Because the overriding religious purpose and mission of Youth for Christ/USA is to communicate and introduce the Gospel of Jesus Christ to young people and their families, and in that regard to make, educate and encourage life-long disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is very important that you as a leader in the movement of Youth for Christ either be commissioned or licensed as a minister of the Gospel through the established Youth for Christ process, and/or ordained by an outside body recognized by Youth for Christ/USA. As such, the following additional responsibilities of a spiritual nature will apply to this position:
1. Seek God’s guidance and wisdom, through prayer and meditation, for the organization as a whole as well as for specific ministry initiatives.
2. Oversee and lead regular times of prayer and worship by the staff at the NSC as well as in the field.
3. Perform sacramental functions such as the taking of communion and leading times of corporate prayer, confession and praise.
4. Perform and lead religious ceremonies such as weddings, baptism and funerals when called upon by staff and other members of the YFC community.
5. Teach and preach from the Holy Bible at YFC staff meetings and conferences.

The Executive Director must:
· be approved by the National/Associate Field Director and be credentialed or be in process of being credentialed.
· meet YFC/USA’s continuing education/training requirements.

Youth for Christ East Michigan is seeking applicants with a heart to reach lost 11-19 year old’s with the Gospel. Applicants must have spiritual and organizational leadership skills, ability to work with and through other people, communications skills and ability to minister to youth in evangelism and discipleship within the context of the YFC program and methodology. Experience in Development Ministry is desirable.
