The Student Ministries Lead Pastor will lead a team of staff, interns, and volunteers to guide students and families to experience God’s love, grow in community, and serve with compassion. This role will report to the Rancho Campus Pastor and will provide oversite leadership for both Junior High and High School Ministries while also providing point leadership over High School Ministry. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Broader responsibilities at Hillside Community Church weekend gathering and other larger events

Armstrong Chapel United Methodist Church is seeking a full time, outgoing and dynamic leader to take the Youth Ministry program at ACUMC to new heights. Armstrong Chapel has for many years had a strong Youth program serving youth from Grade 7 through 12 and into college years. We are seeking a new leader who will bring a passion for Youth Ministry and young people to broaden the participation and deepen the Christian experience for our Youth in what we call Vertical Impact. This Youth Ministry Leader will play a key role in the Worship and Mission leadership of the church as a whole, integrating the Youth fully into our church life.

 

Mission

Building on the strong foundation of the current Vertical Impact program, grow and strengthen the ACUMC Youth Ministry program both from within the ACUMC congregation as well as from the surrounding communities.

The Director of Student Ministries at Armstrong Chapel UMC reports to the Senior Pastor and includes the following responsibilities;

 

  • Developing, planning, and implementing a comprehensive ministry that attracts and welcomes students from Armstrong Chapel and the surrounding community to worship, learn, serve, and grow in the development of a life-long relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Continuing the development of programs, mission, ministries, and structures that foster a heart for intergenerational worship, and building a sustainable student ministry.
  • Teach and lead students, in spiritual growth and ministry that is Christ-centered, Biblically grounded, and in alignment with teachings of the United Methodist Church.
  • Building positive, supportive relationships with students and their families.
  • Develop effective connections with the Children’s Education program at ACUMC, in order to create the pipeline of children that will transition into Vertical Impact at Grade 7.

General Summary:

Sierra Bible Church is excited about and trusting God for a Pastor of Student Ministries.  We look forward to adding to our team a leader that loves Jesus and students well.  We are looking for a Student Ministries Pastor with strong character, excellent relational skills, a clear, specific calling to student ministry and a sense for how the Student Ministry can reach, disciple, and send out students as fully devoted followers of Jesus.

The Pastor of Student Ministries is responsible for all aspects of facilitating the spiritual growth and development of students (grades 7 through 12), helping students find and follow Jesus together.  This includes leadership of weekly programs and periodic special events (camps, trips, service projects, etc.).  The current SBC Student Ministries consists of ~100 students along with a strong supporting group of adult volunteers.

Our Ideal Qualifications:

This position requires a minimum of 2 to 5 years experience as a staff member in a student ministry leadership capacity, and a demonstrated passion for reaching and building into students. Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree along with training in Biblical studies is required.  We are looking for a self-directed leader who possesses the ability to lead as a department head by aligning creative programming and special events to the vision and mission of the Church.

What You’ll do:

Leadership Development:

  • Recruit, train, and lead a team of volunteers in the creation and operation of a student ministry, including weekly services and routine special events.
  • Lead the creative use and proactive upkeep of student ministry facilities and grounds.
  • Assist in the development of an annual budget for high school student ministries and manage spending to budget.
  • Function as a member of the church’s pastoral staff performing baptism services, weddings, funerals, etc. as assigned.

Student Development:

  • Working with other ministry staff, develop spiritual formation “building blocks” that are developmentally appropriate and integrated with age-adjacent programs (Children’s Ministry; College Ministry).
  • Plan and execute biblically accurate, culturally relevant, and high-energy gatherings for high school students.
  • Create and manage a high school and junior high student ministry calendar that will drive all the activities and teaching of the ministry.
  • Develop and disciple student leaders.

Parent Engagement:

  • Build partnerships with parents through consistent communication in order to work together with them in the spiritual development of students.
  • Develop a strategy to engage parents in the spiritual formation of the students.

We are looking for an experienced Director of Student Ministry to lead and expand ministry with 7th grade through 12th grade students and leaders. Youth Intern – POSITION DESCRIPTION

GENERAL DESCRIPTON:

The primary ministry focus will be working with the Junior High and Senior High youth (15 hours/week) in partnership with, and under the supervision of, the Associate Pastor (AP) to help students develop a healthy, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church by establishing an effective, discipling, safe and spirited environment for spiritual formation and growth.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

This position is accountable to the Senior Pastor and Elders through the Associate Pastor (AP). The Youth Intern will meet weekly with the AP, and as needed with the Senior Pastor to review goals and debrief completed events. The Youth Intern’s job and ministry performance will be reviewed and evaluated by the and AP and Senior Pastor

QUALIFICATIONS:

I. Be an active Christian with a heart for youth and the community.

II. Be working towards or having completed a degree with an emphasis in Christian Education, Youth Ministries, Biblical and Theological Studies or similar.

III. Be a minimum age eighteen (18).

IV. Have a life that is an example of a mature and growing Christian.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

Inherent to any ministry position is a varying schedule of hours and responsibilities each week.

I. Junior High and Senior High Ministry:

Work with the Associate Pastor and as needed with the Senior Pastor
Establishing and evaluating long range goals and vision for the ministry
Attend weekly mentoring meetings with the AP and Senior Pastor (as needed)

Director of Student Ministries, Headland United Methodist Church, Headland, Alabama

HUMC is seeking a fun, vivacious, Christ centered individual for a full-time salaried position interested in guiding, mentoring and loving our youth (grades 6-12) as they grow in their faith. As a United Methodist church, we are seeking someone who understands our doctrine, has a strong faith, and a love for and ability to work with teens both in groups and individually. He/She will need to be present on Sundays for Sunday School and worship, on Wednesday evenings for youth ministries and at other church and youth events.

 

Qualifications: While a college degree in ministry or education is preferred, we would also consider an individual with post-secondary education who has experience in youth ministry or education. This person will need to be self-motivated, have a Christ-like attitude in words and actions, and a desire and ability to interact with a variety of youth. Organization skills, communication skills, and the ability to recruit, encourage and manage a team of volunteers, while also working with youth, parents, staff and the community at large will be needed.
