Job Description: The FPC-Kingwood Youth Ministry Summer Interns are expected to be involved in all aspects of the youth ministry over the course of the summer. Interns may be asked to focus on specific age groups (middle or high school) but should expect to work with all ages and groups over the summer. The summer internship is a full-time paid position (40hrs/wk) that reports directly to the director of student ministry. Interns salary for the summer is $3,000.

Responsibilities:

-Pursue and build healthy relationships with students for the purpose of connecting them with Christ and helping them grow in their personal faith

-Participate in the planning, preparing, and running of various ministry programs

-Help with various clerical or housekeeping duties as needed

-Participate in week long mission trips, Lock-Ins, Day trips, and other activities that take place over the summer

-Prepare and lead Bible Studies and Bible Lessons as needed

-Present yourself as an upstanding Christ like example for students

-Prayerfully counsel and guide students towards Christ as opportunities present themselves

Other Expectations:

-Complete a child safety certification and background check of employers choosing

-Be a good steward of the church’s resources and property

-Be familiar with and adhere to church policies and procedures

-Communicate with other interns and staff to ensure a smooth-running ministry

-Attend Staff Meetings

-Perform other duties not directly listed in the job description if requested by supervisor, job description is not all-inclusive and can be modified verbally or in writing by employee’s supervisor

Duration: 12 Weeks from the end of May to the beginning of August 2019

Skills and Requirements:

-A strong and growing relationship with Christ and a commitment to serve his kingdom

-Ability to develop mentor relationships with and set proper boundaries with students

-Be teachable and willing to work as part of a team

-Be creative and self-motivated in planning, creating, and implementing programs and activities

-Be two years removed from high school, graduated in or before May of 2017

-Be flexible, there will be early mornings, late nights, and everything in between over the summer
