Title: Youth Pastor
The purpose of this position is to minister to students, to provide strategic direction for youth ministries, and to develop, supervise, and train the leaders and volunteers of these ministries using the Grace Baptist Church Gather, Grow, and Go model of ministry.

Supervisors: Senior Pastor, Family Pastor
Supervisory Responsibility: Youth ministry leaders/volunteers

Salary commensurate with experience.
Paid vacation. Minimum starting vacation is 2 weeks per year with increases after 5 and 10 years at 5 days each. Starting vacation allotment is based on when the minister entered full time vocational ministry subject to interpretation by the Lead Pastor and Staff Committee.
Employee, spouse, and family health insurance is offered by the church with a portion covered by the church and the remainder to be covered by the employee.
Reasonable moving expenses for those needing to relocate.
Housing may be available temporarily until you can find your own home in the area, dependent upon availability of our mission houses.
Major Representative Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Oversee gather related programs, events and activities which currently includes but is not limited to: Life Groups (Sunday AM) and Wednesday Youth Group (PM). Within the overall vision of the church, the Youth Pastor will have freedom to assess and redirect or change these ministry areas with proper timing and with guidance from the Pastoral Staff.
Regularly evaluate the Youth’s Ministry gather strategy to determine what, if any, changes may be needed in programming, events and activities to more effectively carry out this ministry area.
Teach/Preach when needed Sunday morning, at children’s services, retreats, and ministry programs. May also be asked to teach for chapel at the Academy on occasion.
Regularly communicate with youth leaders and inform parents (including group meetings) in order to discuss ministry performance and to strategically implement programs, events, and activities.
Serve as strong role model of a Christ-centered lifestyle and follower of Christ in order to encourage others at the church to do the same.

Within the overall vision of the church, the Youth Pastor will have freedom to assess and redirect or change these ministry areas with proper timing and planning with guidance from the Pastoral Staff.
Regularly evaluate the Youth Ministry grow strategy to determine what, if any, changes may be needed in programming, events and activities to more effectively carry out this ministry area.
Work cooperatively with the Grow Pastor and other staff members in carrying forward the church’s strategic plan in order to effectively align the programs with that plan and in order to reach and transform teens and their families through life-changing relationships with Jesus Christ.
Recruit, train, and provide pastoral leadership to volunteers in the Youth Ministries at GBC in order to deploy a strong team and reach both saved and unsaved people in the East Brainerd community.
Create or locate resources to be used in the lives of youth in order to promote ongoing and life-changing relationships with Jesus Christ.
Oversee Go related programs, events and activities which currently includes but is not limited to: Alaska and Washington, DC summer missions trip, summer partnership with Hope for the Inner City, and service projects to shut-ins. Within the overall vision of the church, the Youth Pastor will have freedom to assess and redirect or change these ministry areas with proper timing and planning with guidance from the Family Pastor and Go Pastor.
Regularly evaluate the Youth Ministry Go strategy to determine what, if any, changes may be needed in programming, events and activities to more effectively carry out this ministry area.
Identify service opportunities in which youth can participate in GBC, the Chattanooga community, and around the world.
Develop and manage a budget for the areas of responsibility within youth ministry in order to properly develop and maintain related areas of ministry and be a good steward of the funds directed to the youth life ministries.
Actively participate in weekly church staff meetings and attend monthly Official Church Board meetings (business meetings).
Meet regularly with the Family Pastor in order to report, plan, and evaluate progress in the youth ministry.
Consistently communicate with families in order provide help in areas of need and in order to assess the effectiveness of the youth ministry.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Spiritual: Evidence of a vibrant and growing relationship with God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Walks in humility, teachability, and wisdom. Strives to remain above reproach. In full agreement with the GBC statement of Faith.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an area such as, but not limited to, Religious Studies, Biblical Counseling, or Christian Education.
Work Experience: Youth ministry experience; experience preaching and teaching; experience in event-planning and leading special events; experience in team-building, leadership, and managing others; experience in recruiting and developing leaders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge: Knowledge of appropriate curricula for youth ministry programs; Biblical resources appropriate for youth spiritual development; current youth ministry practices; what constitutes humility and servanthood; and child protection training and certification.
Skills: Skills in effectively listening to and working with students, parents, volunteers, the church ministry, the Official Church Board, and the community; motivating, and building a cohesive team; in strategic planning and implementation; oral and written communication, organizing, problem-solving, developing a budget, and program evaluation; computer usage, internet capabilities, social media, and use of appropriate software; and teaching others.
Abilities: Ability to embrace the vision of Grace Baptist Church; to recruit, train, and develop a strong team of volunteer leaders; to create a Kingdom-driven ministry versus a program-driven ministry; to appropriately delegate leadership roles and functions to gifted volunteers; to connect students with mentors; to love well and interact intentionally with students; to relate well to the parents/guardians of the students; to reach out to the unsaved in the communities surrounding Grace Baptist Church; and work well with others. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus but not required.
Special Requirements and Conditions: The candidate selected and their immediate family members must be members of Grace Baptist Church. The Youth Director shall be in agreement with the doctrinal statement of GBC and also meet the spiritual qualifications of a church staff member.
Background: Must be able to successfully clear our standard background check yourself, and maintain regular background checks on all youth ministry volunteers with complete confidentiality as required by law.
